Driving through the town belt

9 04 2008

Every day I drive through the town belt and every day I roll down my window and breathe deep. It smells earthy, moist, and green, and even on the hottest summer day, it is cool. At night some places are so dark I feel ghosts wandering about, and it is no wonder. The town belt is as old as the city itself so some ghosts could have been haunting there for quite a while. It is amazing that what was once the upper border of the Dunedin town line has been preserved as a permanent green space in what is now the heart of the city. All kinds of things are happening in the town belt and Mand and I will be sharing them with you.
